Decided to see if I could get a picture of the lunar eclipse last night, using
a relatively simple setup. I used a Canon S1 IS, which is a fairly old, mid-high end
digital camera. I used a tripod, max zoom, wide open lens (f3.5). Results were pretty
good, considering the simplicity of the setup. The first photo was taken at the start,
with the exposure set to capture the part of the moon still in sunlight. The other 2
were taken as the earth's shadow almost completely covers the moon. The reddish
tint looks about the same as what we saw visually.
